Since I know you’re all interested in the stupid details, I’ll take the liberty to detail some on-going changes with my site. I’ve just added some photos and integrated it with the NextGen Gallery and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. It offers a lot of cool features such as:
- Album->Gallery support. I think it should be categorized the other way around, but hey, he’s German.
- Sidebar “gallery” for x recent/random photos
- Integration with the WordPress Post image browser
- Thumbnails
- Image Caching
- FTP file upload – although you may have to chmod some of your files if you wish to watermark them.
- Watermarking – which is great, but then you lose meta data (EXIF/XMP)
- EXIF/XMP data if your files have it attached alraedy.. sadly only for admins to see. Unless i hack it out haha
- Incredibly shitty documentation
I did get incredibly peeved with how some of the backend looked, and the way it organized “galleries” so I mucked with the code a bit. I had the same issue with listing out the photos per gallery, but after fixing it, I found out you can modify how it’s sorted through the options panel. Fucking cryptic ass options with NO description anywhere.. gawd! Does it affect the front end? Back end? It’s always a surprise!
